Matagorda County Museum Association was chartered in 1963 "... to support an educational undertaking...and to these ends establish and maintain in Matagorda County, Texas, a Historical Museum, for the purpose of promoting the public interest in Matagorda County, Texas." The facility serves as a County Museum with exhibits outlining the early settlement, industry, and social and cultural history of the county. Special changing exhibits will be featured highlighting collections, towns, and events that have shaped the history of Matagorda County.
